delighting in the details (week 5)

ADDENDUM!! This is the benefit of posting Saturday's post on Friday (scared some of you, huh??) :)..you find out even MORE details!! I have had this "HOW GOD CARVES A PUMPKIN" for years...and never knew who wrote it....well, I found out earlier today (see comments) that one of my favorite people on the ENTIRE planet and dearest friend...whom I have known for years did...you know she is the Queenie Bee to you all and she is wise and wonderful...thanking her for revealing that after all these years of NOT knowing, NOW I know...you are amazing Queenie!! OF course I saved it...we still use it and it has occupied a spot in the 'mega file' for all these years, waiting to be shared with the world!! Now it is....what a gift you and your friendship are!! thank you...love you!!

as many of you who visit regularly know, I am spending the weekends here trying to focus on the details that in the busy~ness of life can get overlooked...
this week the detail is

PUMPKINS....
those gourds are everywhere...hoping to pick up some of our own this weekend.
I love them! I love the color, the season, and of course the seeds~~

Several years ago, a friend gave this to us...a way to carve our pumpkin and have a 'mini bible study' at the same time. In a world where spooky fills up Halloween, this was just a really neat way to celebrate the season, without all of the other 'junk.' It's really precious and I thought I'd pass it along...I don't know who is the original author...if you know, please let me know so that I can give proper credit...

enjoy~~
happy carving!
happy fall!

HOW GOD CARVES A PUMPKIN:

  1. Create a pumpkin. Make it big, little, short, tall fat or skinny. No matter which, it will be a WONDERFUL pumpkin.

“Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being? Isaiah 66:2

  1. Harvest the pumpkin when it’s fully ready.

“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

  1. Hold the pumpkin gently as you cleanse the dirt outside, washing all the dirt away.

“Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sin. Acts 22:16

  1. Make an opening at the top, Search into the dark cavity for anything that needs to be removed.

“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind to reward according to conduct and deeds. Jeremiah 17:10

  1. Remove all the stringy pulp and slime, and clean out the entire cavity.

“Create in me a pure heart, O God.” Psalm 51:10

  1. Give that pumpkin a big set of eyes so that he may see all the good around him.

“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.” Luke 10:23

  1. Carve a nice nose so that he can take in the wonderful scents of the world.

“Perfume and insence bring joy to the heart.” Proverbs 27:9

  1. Carve a great big SMILE so that he can bring JOY to anyone who sees him.

“A cheerful look brings joy to the heart of others.” Proverbs 15:30

  1. Make the pumpkin glow all over with a little white light inside.

“God said, “let light shine out of the darkness,” and made His light shine in our hearts.

2Corinthians 4:6

  1. Rejoice in the “NEW” pumpkin that has been created and given new life.

“Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, “Rejoice with me, I have found my lost sheep.” Luke 15:6

  1. Place the pumpkin in the perfect spot so that the light will guide others.

“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise the Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16

This is great. I can't believe I've never heard of this potter clay analogy. Thanks. I'll add to my SSSSunday meme.

Thanks again for your prayers. This morning I posted an update on my valley to mountain journey.

Oh mY gosh, I can't believe you still have that!!! I wrote it myself (believe it or not!). I did it originally to share with DD's preschool class, but I remember giving it to friends, neighbors, and I think my MOPS group too! My inspiration was from a cute little book, but the story or the verses weren't the same...I forget the name at the moment.

Now that I've read it again all these years later, I think I like it even more. I remember writing it (and especially searching for those verses), but I had forgotten some of the details over time!

Anywho...thanks for bringing it back to life. I can't believe I don't have a copy of it packed away myself...

You really brightened my day! It brings me joy to know that you kept that THIS long!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing this! I am loving your "details" posts. They are such a blessing. You see God's glory in the thing I just look right over and take completely for granted. Thanks for bringing it to my attention each week. You are a blessing!!
