Iris hosts Thankful Thursday's....stop by if you have a chance ... gratitude....
it does the heart good...
I am thankful for this prayer this week....
I have several friends dealing with 'stuff' that can cause anxiousness...and when I pray this prayer I find peace... I am thankful for the words that bring peace to me and to those I love.
Thankful too, for friends who pray for me and who I am blessed to PRAY for...
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the PEACE of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." phillipians 4:6 -7
How many times do we NOT follow what we are told in Phillipians, and like the mom pleads with the child, "just listen to me....trust me...I know what I'm talking about..."
But NOOOOOO....we try and take control of it all,
we forget the prayer and take matters into our own hands,
we forget to 'TELL' God what is on our hearts,
forget our gracious attitudes and find ourselves with a spirit of entitlement, and not thanksgiving,
AND WE WONDER....wonder WHY we can't find the peace....
hmmmmm.... we've forgotten...and thankfully Phillipians 4: 6-7 gently reminds us...
I have anxious thoughts at times...I think about the 'what ifs' and often the what ifs are not the BIG 'what ifs'....they are the daily things that if I allow them to...can overwhelm me. I have a friend who posts this Scripture verse at "EYE" level at her desk....and I have it posted on my fridge... It reminds me....reminds me to turn...turn to HIM, and to TALK to Him...ALL day long...a best friend along for the ride!
I know that when I look to the place where all peace begins, then I find myself in a place of peace, even when those daily storms of life surround me...
As we anxiously await a
thunderstorm here in the deep South,(which we will be abundantly THANKFUL for...:)) I am reminded that..."NO storm can shake my inmost CALM, when to this ROCK, I'm clinging...."
Phillipians 4: 6-7....it's one for the road!!
peace,

Thanks for reminding me about what to do about anxieties! It's so easy to turn to ourselves..
Lori---I love how it sounds like and seems like you are always talking to ME! I feel the message...I hear the message---the worries I have allowed to creep in ----thank you for sharing the scripture from Philippains! this ROCK I am clinging as well!!!
Thank you sweet friend!
This has been another crazy busy week----but I am looking forward to some "time away" with sisters/mother/aunt! Just two days...but it will be nice!!!
Thank you, Lori -- I needed to read this Scripture passage tonight. You know, Philippians is my favorite epistle - because it is full of comfort and joy...
Thank you for sending me off with this prayer.
Be blessed today and always.
Be greatly blessed dear one.
"... when I look to the place where all peace begins, then I find myself in a place of peace, even when those daily storms of life surround me ..."
that is so beautiful!
thank you so much for sharing. :)
Is that not cool or what? I take comfort in knowing how He works in our hearts and in one Spirit----even across the world. It must be the prayer connection. :)Again, conformation for me. I didn't go seek ing that passage---I just let my Bible open freely.
Lori,
I claim this scripture all of the time. It is the only thing that keeps me going sometimes.
Love,
Julie

This is something the Lord has had to really pound into my heart. Great message to read. Your blog is always a blessing and the pictures so breath taking.
Blessings.
Lori, not only did your post bless me, it convicted me. Thank you so very much for sharing.
I pray you get the rain you need. We have snow this morning... That is an awesome scripture. Thanks for sharing it today!
A very cool Thankful Thursday perspective! It resonates with what I've been sharing about on my blog and somewhat of the theme behind a Journey of Truth. Thanks for this great reminder again today!
What a cool post! God has been teaching me to rest in Him and this is such a wonderful encouragement!
Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings
What a great reminder. How many times I have tried to be in control and it is always a mess when I do.
Wonderful post.
Hugs, Lyndy
I just read that verse this am to our Bible Study (on the topic of prayer). In the MSSG, it says to let your thanksgiving shape your worries into prayers. Doesn't that capture it so beautifully? I'm so grateful that He never tires of us returning again and again to put those worries in His hands!
Lori,
What a pleasure to read your post. Thank you so much for sharing.
What a sweet post! I love that picture.. . .it just speaks peace! I also love your signature. How do you do that, if you don't mind me asking?!

HEY! My daughter and I saw Nicole Nordeman in concert with casting crowns last year...we both love her too!!!
I have your package all ready to send, except the bookstore had to order the EE book you want...so it'll be a few days! Be looking! You'll know the box is from me as soon as you see it!!!
Hope you are having a good week! Thanks for stopping by for coffee! Always love our visits!
Hi Lori,
Wonderful post. I love this scripture. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for sharing your heart.
What a great reminder. I always seem to get anxious during storms...especially like the storms we had come through our area last night.
tears are streaming down my face....would be fine except I am at work.......!!
much love, Marilyn
Just read this post...a couple days late it seems...go figure! It's all just a repitition of our phone conversation though, and for THAT I am ever so blessed. Having a true friend as awesome as you is a rare blessing, and I thank God everyday for you and all your gracious words, prayers, and friendship.
