WELCOME!

After watching an interview with Dr. Pausch, I went and watched the Last Lecture, I was moved by this man's passion for life, living his dreams and until his dying breath living a life that would be something that his young children could look back on for advice, wisdom and a glance into who their dad was. I received the book as a gift and there are lots of underlined places but the above quote just had me reading and re~reading it over and over again.

Brick Walls...

Ever faced one?
There were plenty of people who had in the bible, plenty who tried to use excuses?
Moses, I believe said, I'm not your guy, I'm not good at speaking to others, I can't.
Peter said, I can't....
Jeremiah too, I can't....
Mary faced a brick wall when the angel appeared to her and told her she was carrying God's child. Raise God's child? Whoa...that there is a brick wall for all time!
We face them in the form of situations, difficult people and temptations.
BRICK WALLS...

Brick walls come into our lives in so many different ways. They test us. Sometimes it is a daily test, sometimes the walls are much greater than a daily test, much higher and thicker to climb.
When I think of brick walls, I think of those 11 men sitting around after Jesus had left them.
"Now what guys?"

"We KNOW what we has commanded us to do...How in the world are we going to DO that?"
They began to climb the brick wall, they cast lots and divided up the "nations." Historical evidence tells us that 11 out of 12 were martyred for the cause.
The faith that we follow was one of the BIGGEST BRICK WALLS of all time.
What if they had not wanted it bad enough to climb it?

One thing is certain, brick walls will come....

"When troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing."
James 1: 2-4

Those brick walls are there to "test" us...test our faith, test our will, test US. They test us, to remake us; remake us into a person that God can use in even greater ways. Once we commit in faith to the "brick wall" that faces us, we can be assured of one thing. We will NEVER climb alone! It's in the "brick wall" times of our lives that we MUST remain close to God, knowing that however big the wall, God is limitless in HIS power.

One quote....
Two words; Brick Wall
and a reminder that He is always ready to climb.

"In your strength I can crush an army;
With my God I can scale ANY wall."
2 Samuel 22:30

I KNOW what I want. I want to serve, love and live like Christ. I KNOW that with that will come brick walls.
Just how badly do I WANT it?
Enough to climb any wall?
I pray so....

PEACE!

OK, I thought I was taking a rather unique take on this by focusing on a Bible character but I see you beat me to it!! Were you looking over my shoulder??

I have never heard of Dr. Pausch but now I want to know more about him. What a legacy he must have left!!

You know we all hate those walls at the time but they are so sweet to look back on later and see how much further they moved us in our relationship with Him. For that, they are worth it!!

Penguins scored!! It's tied!! It's going to be a long night!!

Great post Lori. Love that you used the verse in 2 Samuel.

The entire Bible is a story of brick walls and God getting our attention.

I really enjoyed this quote. Than you for hosting.

Sorry it says bookshelves in Mr Linky--from my homemaking blog--can you remove it?

Hello, dear coffee friend! I'm here for coffee at 7:19 today.. Couldn't sleep again! Might as well have some coffee! Good post today. It seems like those walls spring up all over the place! It happens so much you'd think I'd get used to it,huh? But,no! Many times the walls go up, and I plop down on my behind and cry because I "just can't face another wall!" What a baby I am! It's encouraging to be reminded of WHO is in charge of those walls and who will help me over them!!!

God Bless you today!

Great quote and a great reminder. Often times people on the outside see the "brick walls" as God closing the doors and I don't believe that is always the case. I believe there are times, and plenty of them, that God wants us to start climbing and continue trusting. Very thought-provoking, thank you, Lori!

It never ceases to amaze me how we each find something different in the chosen quotes.

Interesting one this week, Lori. Thanks!

I bet for some of those Bible guys, it must have felt like one brick wall challenge after another. I know it does for me at times. LOL!

Great quote to write about. Love the thought about "just how badly do we want something, enough to climb ANY wall." For some reason it made me think of a deer that can bounce over almost any fence in their path. We can do that thanks to the help of the Lord.

Lori,

I love reading your posts. They are so relational and so authentic. Thanks for a great quote this week and challenging us to press in. You Said: "I KNOW what I want. I want to serve, love and live like Christ. I KNOW that with that will come brick walls.
Just how badly do I WANT it?
Enough to climb any wall?
I pray so...."

I say, "AMEN... Amen... for us all."

Blessings.

Wow. I didn't know what this quote was going to lead me to write today, but it definately lead to conviction.

Your post helped that out - in a very good way. Thank you for hosting today. :-)

This is my first time at your particular site, and I was wondering, did you make all those cool scripture picture thingies under your welcome sign in the sidebar??? I love them!

You did great! It came to my heart as I was reading your thoughts (sorry I didn't have time to join today) of how many brick walls Wanda faced in her life. AND how brick by brick---as she lifted each one to remove it from her path---she not only built her "physical strength"...but her inner strength and her FAITH was increased.
This was so good. I am about to "click on him" and listen.
I was glad to "hear" from you today...I was getting worried that I had run you off with my babbling on!
I love you girl!

I can't believe I didn't get here until now.

What a great quote and what an awesome post! I think this is one of my favorites...so far!!

"One thing is certain, brick walls will come...."

Hmmm, is that a truck load of truth or what?

I'm so sorry I missed this IOW. (Now, you should of reminded me this weekend, but hey, things were pretty crazy Saturday huh?)

Blessing to you my faithful friend. You're the BEST♥
